Whilst the company has a long-standing history of passive fire protection work, both in the industrial and commercial sectors. This service only forms a small segment of our current business. 

There are basically two types of fire, one is cellulosic and the other hydro carbon, the later is generally only found in a refinery/chemical plant situation, the former is associated with buildings, the two are quite distinct in the type of fire, both if allowed to burn will reach similar temperatures, however the hydro carbon fire reaches its ultimate heat very quickly, in some cases almost instantaneously.

 

 

 

 

There are numerous products on the market which allow for the protection required during a fire situation. Empire Contracting are approved applicators of the following products and systems:

Cafco 300 is a plaster/gypsum based sprayed coating mainly used for the protection of structural steel and air handling duct

Fendolite II is a cementitious based sprayed coating mainly used in the protection of structural steel and commonly used in the petroleum/chemical industry

Promat Systems, these products can be used in either cellulosic or hydro carbon fire applications
