StoneFaçadeJointingRemoval

The photographs below are of three buildings within the ACT that have a similar type façade stone.
The joimting materials on all three are quite similar and also had a sealant butyl mastic applied over the cementitious joint, in some areas the mastics contained asbestos and in others both the cementitious joint and the mastics both contained asbestos.
The removal on all three buildings was conducted under contolled conditions i.e. scaffold containments, even though the jointing compounds was classified as non frable asbestos, as both power & hand tools had to be used. One of the buildings had a white type cement located in the joint, basically this was in behind the mastic and the cementitious mortar, approx 20mm in, this compound was extremly hard and diamond tipped power saws (tile cutting saw) was required for the removal.
